Rethink Print 07/15/2011
Last month, PRSourceCode unveiled their annual study and announced the top three publications who won the Top Technology Trade Publications category. The study surveyed almost 150 Tech PR professionals and asked what publications are the most influential media outlets. We're proud to announce that Network World ranked in the TOP THREE tech trade publications — proving Network World continues to be a primary source of top notch tech information for IT decision makers, IT marketers and Tech PR professionals. Over the past year, Network World has conducted quarterly Harvey Readership studies. We've consistently found our readers to SPEND OVER AN HOUR READING the average issue of Network World. This time spent reading an issue becomes the catalyst for over 94% of readers to take one or more actions, such as visiting advertiser websites and requesting more product information from a company sales representative. And most recently, IDG Enterprise released its annual Role & Influence of The Tech Decision Maker study. Guess which medium is considered #1 to IT Management & Professionals looking to keep up-to-date with new technologies to better do their jobs? Print! For the third year in a row, publications remain the top source for IT, with content sites coming in a close second.* Though in recent years IT marketers have not invested as heavily in print as they have in the past, we at Network World continue to be committed to providing world-class content and insight on the latest trends and technologies that help IT executives & professionals make the most informed decisions. Delivering this information through a print publication, along with our content site and IT Roadmap events, gives IT the information they need at the right time, and in a variety of formats they prefer. As you're thinking through your marketing plans in the coming months and into 2012, consider adding print into the mix. You'll be guaranteed to reach IT decision makers who are actively engaged in learning about new technologies, trends and the IT vendors who matter most as they build out their plans in the coming months. IT Roadmap continues to roll out first rate CIO speakers this year. Last month in Chicago, the CIO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America keynoted, and last week, the CIO of Red Robin keynoted Denver. Much of the discussion continues to center on how cloud is driving change within the enterprise, and how the network must scale to meet those needs. IT Roadmap Boston is up next, June 7. Don't miss out on the opportunity to provide your own keynote in the general session, or host the Private vs. Public Cloud or The Connected Enterprise tracks. We also have five afternoon tracks available for sponsorship, and a limited number of exhibits available on the show floor. May 9th will be our very special 25th Anniversary issue. The issue will feature a pictorial timeline of the most remarkable tech advances from the last 25 years, as well as a Q&A with the "Living Legends" who have changed the networking world. This issue will also see special distribution at Interop Las Vegas this year. Last but not least, if you have a cloud story to tell, Network World continues the next installment in the Enterprise Cloud Services (ECS) series on June 6. If you'd like to participate in this unique opportunity (online and/or print), feel free to contact me directly at adamato@nww.com. Make the Leap into the Cloud 01/31/2011
Network World conducted a study that examines the current state of cloud computing and its impact on the world of IT. We found out 53% of our audience has at least one application or a portion of their computing infrastructure in the cloud. That's over half who are already seeing benefits such as increased speed of delivery and higher levels of end-user satisfaction. While that figure is impressive, that leaves nearly half who are still wondering what their next steps will be. To address the most pressing cloud questions and uncertainty, Network World is launching a brand new editorial series called Enterprise Cloud Services. Our insightful editors, led by John Dix, have developed a six-part series focused on addressing enterprise concerns when it comes to adopting cloud. We'll seek to clear the confusion, discuss implementation options, and provide real world recommendations for organizations to prepare for, and realize the benefits of, cloud computing. The key areas around preparation include failover protection, security, application performance management, identity management, data replication, and of course, virtualization. Cloud is the next big step and Network World can help get you involved now. The Enterprise Cloud Services series launches February 7 — it's not too late to take advantage of Platinum, Gold and Silver program options, which feature Welcome Ads and Roadblocks to showcase your company as a cloud thought leader. For more information on the Enterprise Cloud Services series, or to discuss the results of our recent Cloud Computing-Based Research Study, please feel free to contact me directly at 508-766-5455 or at adamato@nww.com. At Network World's IT Roadmap in Philadelphia on July 14th, 305 IT executives, professionals, and vendors came together to share best practices and discuss the most pressing issues facing IT today. Allan Frank, CTO of Philadelphia, spoke to a packed general session where he talked of Philly’s vision to go Gigabit, Paperless and Wireless. Part of this vision included ripping out 1,000 switches, moving from 165 servers to 54 to reduce replication, and buying the assets of Wireless Philadelphia, the largest mesh network in the US to give Philly 80% city coverage. Following the conference, attendees told me the event allowed them to “move forward with projects [they] otherwise might have kept on the back burner.” In the exit survey, we asked attendees which vendors would be on their short list of presenters for an upcoming IT Roadmap. Respondent requests included Dell, HP, Microsoft (particularly Windows 7 deployment!), Oracle, Red Hat, SAP, and VMware. Fortunately, Philadelphia isn’t the last stop on the road. Network World’s IT Roadmap will be travelling to three more cities this year: Dallas on September 14th, Washington, D.C. on October 19th, and San Francisco on November 3rd. Get involved and chart your own IT journey with us. For more information on sponsoring or attending IT Roadmap, click here. I look forward to seeing you at one of our events.
